How many people use Tor? How many people use Tor per day? Those are questions I have had for a while, but thanks to the Tor metrics site we can answer that.

Now, note that this data is a very very good estimate and is coming from the Tor Project, but still take this all with a grain of salt.

Let's start with users who connect globally, with no bridges. This is a pretty broad graph that shows data from Jan 2023 - March 2025

That's a lot of users, it peaked at nearly 9 Million, but was at 8,944,973, users just shy of 9M. That was on October 18th, 2023, later in early 2024 similar spikes happened. Let's now look at bridge users during that time

Now, its not a lot during this time but those users a long with directly connecting users is a lot during that peak time! But, that all seems like a long time ago, so let's take a more recent look at how stuff is going. This is from October 2024 - March 2025, more recently it averages around 2M but during late 2024 peaked at 4M

Actually Interesting Stuff

Now your probably bored now so let's look at some more interesting stuff. This is the average number of users connecting per day for the top 10 countries based on Tor users In the U.S alone 380,552 people connect per day (Averages from Jan 2025 - March 2025)

Heres averages from Jan 2020 - March 2025 In this more broad one, Germany is the top one for this with an average of 606,316 Users daily while the U.S sees 523,532 users connect every day on average.

Let's look at bridge users, for this first one I'm going more recent (Jan 2025 - March 2025) This shows that Russia has 64,259 bridge users, and interestingly the U.S has 11,100, despite it not being illegal to use Tor in the U.S.

An actual answer

After doing so much epic math I came to the conclusion that on average, per day nearly 2.3 Million People use Tor every day (Just shy of 2.3M at 2,282,395) (These are averages from the past few months)
